What does the procedure involve?

We begin with a digital scan of your teeth and jaw, which enables us to understand the strength and density of your jaw bone. After assessment and treatment planning, your implant placement surgery will be scheduled.

The treatment is carried out under a local anaesthetic, or with sedation if required.

Following placement of the implant into the jaw bone, you may be able to have your replacement teeth placed immediately. In some cases, however, it may be necessary to wait a few months until the implant has fully integrated with the surrounding bone to make sure it’s completely stable. If this is the case, we will fit temporary restorations so you will never be without teeth. Most patients can return to work within one or two days of implant surgery.

Implant treatments at 543 Dental & Implant Centre are under the experienced care of Dentist, Vali Osoianu.

Vali has been involved in implant placement and restorative dentistry procedures since 2008 and has attended numerous implant-related courses in the UK and overseas.

He attended the Diploma Course in Restorative Dentistry at the Royal College of Surgeons, London and is an active member of the ADI (Association of Dental Implantology), keeping his knowledge up to date to provide the latest evidence-based care to all of his patients.

What are dental implants?

A dental implant is a small titanium screw that’s surgically implanted into the upper or lower jawbone where the natural tooth/teeth are missing. A tooth replacement is then screwed onto the implant to restore the appearance and function of natural teeth.

How do dental implants work?

Once the implant has been placed into the jawbone, the implant integrates with the surrounding bone to provide a strong foundation for replacing individual or multiple teeth, or anchoring dentures.

How many dental implants will I need?

This depends on your particular case. You may need to replace each individual tooth or several teeth supporting a bridge. Replacing an entire arch would typically require around four implants.

Are dental implants permanent?

Dental implants are designed to be a long term option to replace missing teeth, but they do require good care and maintenance. No other tooth replacement option has the potential to last as long as an implant.

Can anyone have implants?

Implants can only be considered for healthy mouths, so some patients may find that the process of getting implants will first require other dental work, such as bone grafting, gum surgery or orthodontics. For instance, patients with gum disease will not be suitable for implant surgery as the procedure requires strong and healthy gums.

Are dental implants worth it?

Missing teeth can have a huge impact on your quality of life and may lead to more dental problems later in life.
